Aleks is also a non-executive director of The Conexus Institute, a public policy think-tank philanthropically funded by Conexus Financial, a board director of the Pro Bono Financial Advice Network and recognised authority on the business and regulation of financial services in Australia. He has advised institutional investors and technology start-ups on corporate communications and was a Congressional Intern in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC.

He completed the Reuters Institute leadership programme at the University of Oxford and holds a Master of Media Practice and Bachelor of Economic and Social Sciences from the University of Sydney, where he was awarded the Australian Press Council Prize for Media Law & Ethics.

Aleks was named Columnist of the Year 2017 by Mumbrella and won Business Editor of the Year at the 2014 Publishers Australia Excellence Awards. He is a member of the National Press Club of Australia and Society of American Business Writers and Editors. His first book, USA G'DAY: An Aussie Take on the American Dream in a Blockbuster Election Cycle, was published in 2017.
